Easy Ways to Clean Pillows
When thinking about cleaning your pillow, it’s important to consider the type of pillow you own. Depending on the pillows structure and materials dictates exactly how you will clean it to maintain its shape and ensure it looks just as good at the end of the process.
Memory Foam and Foam Pillows – Foam pillows can’t be washed in the washing machine as this would completely ruin them. However if they come with a removable cover then these can easily be removed and cleaned in the washing machine. Just make sure you always read the care instructions before you proceed. To deal with soiled spots simply dab them with a damp cloth soaked in detergent, then rinse through with a wet cloth.
Down and Fiber Pillows – Thankfully, these types of pillows can be cleaned in the washing machine. It’s best to wash two pillows at the same time to maintain some balance, also try to avoid using a washer with an agitator as it’s easy for the pillows to get tangled around these which could possibly misshapen your pillow.
Of course if your pillow came with care instructions make sure to follow them. However, if not, don’t worry, simply use warm water and select a gentle cycle. After that, it’s advisable to select an extra-cold rinse and spin. You can then tumble dry the pillows on a very low heat, turning them as often as required.
